About the Role:

The German-speaking Financial Accountant role is an exciting opportunity for a talented professional to join a dynamic team based in London. This hybrid position offers the chance to work across multiple European entities, contributing to the company’s financial operations and transformation projects. The role provides exposure to diverse accounting practices and the opportunity to collaborate with external accountants and tax advisors. With responsibilities spanning accounts payable, payroll coordination, VAT submissions, and month-end management reporting, this role offers significant scope for professional growth and impactful contributions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review bank reconciliations for subsidiaries in Germany and Spain.
• Coordinate German and Spanish payroll processes, including reviewing changes and posting monthly journals.
• Prepare monthly payroll reconciliations for these entities.
• Manage intercompany transactions, including loans and management fee invoices.
• Support group-wide finance transformation projects, such as system transitions and process improvements.
• Process purchase invoices and payment runs for German and Spanish entities, ensuring accurate and timely postings.
• Review and tidy vendor postings and book-keeping activities, ensuring reconciliations are up to date.
• Prepare and review month-end working papers for prepayments, fixed assets, and other journal entries.
• Prepare and review VAT returns in Germany and Spain, liaising with external accountants and tax authorities.
• Ensure compliance with group-wide chart of accounts guidance and reconcile local submissions to ERP systems.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Experience working in a multi-company, multi-currency group environment with significant intercompany transactions.
• Strong understanding of book-keeping and accounting principles.
• Extensive experience using accounting systems, including nominal and subledger review, postings, and currency management.
• A good understanding of payroll processes.
• Fluency in English and German is mandatory.
• Desirable: Experience using Priority ERP software.
• A relevant accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, AAT) is advantageous but not essential, those currently pursuing a qualification could be suitable.
